Kaski will not become the new SV leader – news Norway – Overview of news from various parts of the country

– I have today informed the election committee that unfortunately I cannot make myself available to the leadership of SV this time, writes Kaski. SV’s fiscal spokesperson in the Storting is still on maternity leave. – I know this will disappoint a lot of people. And it’s a decision that makes me unhappy. But I have come to the conclusion that it is the right choice for me in the situation I and my family are in now, she writes. So far, only deputy leader Kirsti Bergstø has said that she wants to become the new SV leader. Current party leader Audun Lysbakken will not be re-elected at the party’s national meeting in the spring. – Difficult Among others, Oslo SV and Sosialistisk Ungdom have openly said that they want Kari Elisabeth Kaski as the new SV leader. – It has taken time to reach this decision. I have been open about the difficult life situation I am in. I am on parental leave after a tough pregnancy and maternity leave, and I have had to give it space, says Kaski. – The decision has been very difficult and took time, because I take seriously that so many in the party want me as the new leader. It is a huge vote of confidence, and many have offered to stand for me and the party. I am very grateful for that, she explains further. Kaski says she sees the declarations of support as clear support for “the party many of us want to further develop”, namely a “broad, inclusive, solidary, outward-looking, ambitious red and green people’s party.” Kaski is back from leave on 21 February. – Until then, I hope for some quiet last weeks with the family, she writes. Bergstø wants the job When Lysbakken announced last autumn that he was finished as party leader, Kaski, Bergstø and the latter’s deputy leader colleague Torgeir Knag immediately came into focus in Fylkesnes. But Fylkesnes announced before Christmas that he was skeptical about becoming the new party leader. With Kaski’s announcement today, it is therefore only Kirsti Bergstø who is a candidate to become the new SV leader. She announced on 9 December that she was ready to take up the post. – After many calls from people all over the country, and after a thorough assessment, I have decided to make myself available as a leadership candidate, she told news.
