The people involved must be a car and a person. The person, who was standing along the road, is said to have been hit by the vehicle. One person is injured, and the accident appears to be serious, the police report at 08.11. – I cannot go into details, but the accident appears to be serious. It is the soft road user who is injured. The person who drove the car is not physically injured, says operations manager for the police, Roger Litlatun, at 08.35. At 08.43 the police confirm that one person has died at the scene, and that the road will be closed for a longer period in the future. – CPR was attempted, but he was confirmed dead after a while, says Litlatun. The deceased is said to be a man in his 80s. The driver of the car, a man in his 60s, has been deprived of his driver’s license and charged with breaching section 3 of the Road Traffic Act. He has been questioned by the police. Time mayor Andreas Vollsund received the news of the fatal accident with sadness. – This was sad, sad news to receive on the last day of the year.
