9 December 2022 at 17:30 Rema buys over 100 Aldi stores in Denmark Rema 1000 Denmark has entered into an agreement to take over the majority of the German grocery chain Aldi’s store network in Denmark. – Aldi’s business model was a great inspiration when we opened the first Rema store in Trondheim in 1979, and still characterizes our philosophy throughout Reitan today, says Odd Reitan, founder of Rema 1000 and CEO of Reitan AS. Rema 1000 Denmark is buying 114 store locations and three distribution centers. The agreement does not include Aldi’s head office and remaining stores in Denmark. The transaction is subject to approval from the Danish competition authorities. If they get it, Rema will be Denmark’s largest grocery chain.
