Idsøe says that on Saturday evening he saw what he describes as “a kind of huge shooting star or meteor-like thing” in the sky off the coast of Ulsteinvik on Sunnmøre. Idsøe says he saw a bright light in the sky when he was out on the lake with the boat “Aqua Skillsøy”. – It was rocket-like and went straight into the air. It lit up the whole sky, he says, and describes it as a white light with a kind of green tinge. – It took between five and eight seconds, says Idsøe. – It went into orbit across the sky at a terrible speed. It was very special. Per Skram (27) was visiting his girlfriend’s great-grandmother when they saw a bright light. – It suddenly became bright, so I thought at first it was a car driving with high beams. But then I looked up at the sky, and there was a massive, flaming light that shot across the sky with a long, blue tail behind it, he says. According to VG, observations should also have been made in Sandnes, Ålesund, Os, Flekkefjord, Sigdal, Stavanger and Ørsta. Tonight, news has also received several tips from Southern Norway and Western Norway about a bright light in the sky. Meteorologist on duty, Siri Wiberg, tells news that there have been observations of what is probably a meteorite. – There is a meteor shower now, called the Leonids. Then you can see a lot of shooting stars, they burn up quickly, you might see a line across the sky for a second. But this one lasted longer and was bigger. According to Wiberg, this happens a couple of times a year. – When the weather is clear, a meteorite can be observed in many places.
