The police warn of slippery roads in the west – news Vestland

There are slippery roads in several places after the temperature dropped in Western Norway overnight to Saturday. In Vestland county, slippery roads were first reported in Øygarden west of Bergen. At 11 o’clock there was a report of a car driving off the road on Lustravegen in Luster further north in the county. At 11.25 a car spun around and ended up on its roof on Årøyvegen, county road 55, between Sogndal and Hafslo. The driver got out of the car and was up, with some minor injuries, probably due to all the broken glass, according to the police. Traffic was stopped in both directions while the fire brigade stepped in to remove all the broken glass. Three quarters of an hour after the accident, the road was opened at 12.10. She advises motorists to drive carefully. – It’s always scary when the first frost comes. It is important to drive carefully and reduce speed, she says. Operations manager Tom Johannessen in the West police district told about slippery roads in several places in the county. – People must be very careful, this especially applies to areas that lie in the shade. It is probably a bit local, depending on how the humidity has settled, he claims. He points out that the accidents in Sogn are on roads that are close to the sea. – This means that you get moisture from the sea, combined with a drop in temperature, says Johannessen. – People must drive carefully today. Summer tires are not something you use anymore. The debt is winter tyres, he states. A car drove off the slippery road at Hafslo in Luster municipality at 11am on Saturday.
