For decades, the phrase “the sky is the limit” in architecture seemed confined to Asia and the Middle East. This perception has dramatically shifted with the impending completion of the Rise Tower in Monterrey, Mexico. Upon its completion, this skyscraper will not only become the tallest building in Mexico but will also take the title of the highest in all of Latin America, surpassed only by the iconic One World Trade Center in New York.

The Rise Tower is set to stand at an astonishing height of 484 meters, comprising 408 meters of residential space across 96 floors and an architectural spire reaching 76 meters. Strategically located in the vibrant Obispado neighborhood along Constitución Avenue, the tower will face the picturesque Santa Catarina River. The project is a brainchild of Nest and Ancore Group, with architectural design led by Esteban Ramos and an interior crafted by Pozas Design Group and Next, ensuring luxury and functionality.

Significance of the Rise Tower

The Rise Tower will eclipse the current tallest building, the Torres Obispado, which is also located in Monterrey. This transition not only symbolizes Mexico’s architectural prowess but also positions the country as a leader in urban design on a continental scale, overtaking structures such as Chile’s Gran Torre Costanera.

The construction of this skyscraper marks Mexico’s ability to conceive, finance, and execute projects comparable to those of major urban centers worldwide, which could stimulate urban repopulation and infrastructure investment.

Monterrey has become a hotspot for vertical urbanism over the last two decades. With the construction of the Obispado Towers in 2020, it secured a spot among cities with buildings exceeding the “supertall” status of 300 meters. The Rise Tower began with ambitions for a height of 350 meters before evolving to its current profile.

Construction Timeline

Construction kicked off in 2023. As of March of this year, the tower has reached the impressive height of 306 meters and the 52nd floor. Completion is anticipated for the summer of 2026, ideally timed just before the FIFA World Cup. However, some sources hint at a possible delay until late 2026 or even into 2027.
