“Cambodia” Peloc had been arrested in February, after being on the run for a year

Security Measures Activated in Salta

The Justice of Salta has implemented stringent security measures to protect both the prosecutor and victims involved in the case against Jonathan Jordan Peloc, known as “Cambodia.” This dangerous 41-year-old prisoner has been evading authorities since his escape from General Warden No. 1. Alongside him, an accomplice, Jorge Miguel Ángel Fernández, aged 31, also escaped but was recaptured shortly after the search began.

Details of the Escape

The escape occurred during the early hours on a Saturday when Peloc and Fernández fled from pavilion A1 of the police facility. Currently, Peloc remains at large, prompting authorities to maintain an active search, which has raised concerns given his violent criminal history.

Peloc was under preventive detention due to homicide charges aggravated by the use of a firearm, with prior offenses making his escape even more alarming. He had been a fugitive for over a year before his earlier capture.

Ongoing Search Operations

The ongoing search for Peloc includes thorough checks at strategic locations, enhanced patrols, and a scrutiny of security footage. Authorities are conducting raids in multiple areas and have initiated an internal investigation into how Peloc could escape from secure custody.

Prosecutor Pablo Paz has called for the assistance of the Criminalistics division to gather evidence and reconstruct the escape dynamics. The Public Prosecutor’s Office has also urged the community to report any information regarding Peloc’s whereabouts to 911 or the nearest police station.

Background of Peloc’s Criminal Charges

Peloc’s allegations trace back to November 15, 2024, when a violent incident occurred in the High Tension neighborhood of Jump City. His involvement escalated during a family gathering when he brandished a firearm, instigating threats.

The situation deteriorated later that night, as Peloc returned with accomplices, armed with guns and blunt objects, leading to random gunfire aimed at bystanders, homes, and animals. This chaos resulted in severe injuries and one fatality; a 24-year-old man succumbed to gunshot wounds at the San Bernardo hospital, while other victims sustained significant injuries.

Implications of the Criminal Incident

The violence from that night resulted in multiple casualties, including a 32-year-old with leg injuries and another person suffering from a severe head trauma. Additionally, one of the casualties included a dog that was shot dead during the attack.

During the investigation, 18 shell casings were recovered and have been documented as evidence, supporting claims of the severity of the incident. Experts have been engaged to analyze public and private surveillance footage, alongside ballistic and forensic evidence collected from the scene.

As of February 6, Peloc faces comprehensive charges including homicide, attempted homicide, illegal possession of firearms, and acts of animal cruelty. Meanwhile, three other suspects are pending trial for similar charges connected to the same violent incident.
