Much more expensive to charge the electric car at a charging station than at home today – news Vestfold and Telemark – Local news, TV and radio

On Friday, electricity is record cheap in southern Norway. This means that the price difference between home charging and rapid charging of your electric car will also be record high. Charging from 0 to 100 percent at home would cost you around NOK 50 if you live in Greenland and charge your car at home after work on Thursday, according to calculations made by Fjordkraft. This applies to an electric car with a capacity of 82 kWh. If, on the other hand, you were to charge from 0 to 100 percent on a 150 kWh fast charger, it would cost you around NOK 770, with a drop-in price of around NOK 9 per kWh. Calculation of charging at home The average price of electricity in Lede’s network area yesterday and today was: NOK 0.64/kWh, which includes surcharges, network rent and electricity support. This price is made up of the following elements: Average spot price including VAT and surcharge of 3.9 øre/kWh: NOK 0.223/kWh Grid rental Lede including energy link, consumption tax and the enova fund + VAT: NOK 0.418/kWh. Estimated electricity subsidy (based on electricity prices so far this month and forecasts for electricity prices for the rest of the month) NOK 0/kWh Price for charging 82 kWh of electricity in the car at home overnight until today came to: about NOK 39 if you charge the car during the cheapest hours through e.g. smart charging in The Fjordkraft app, and approximately NOK 51 if you plugged it into your car after work yesterday. (A little over a decade to save there, that is, if you bought it when it was cheapest). Source: Torfinn Fæste-Belbo, product manager e-mobility at Fjordkraft. He has not quite come to terms with his own electric car charger at home, and was not aware of the large price difference. – It makes a juicy dent in the wallet, says Puertas. – What do you think about that price? – That I just have to stop charging here, and get home quickly. That’s a crazy big difference. Then I will think about it more than once the next time I charge at such places. Expect the charging price to be lower Due to the increased electricity prices, the prices of fast chargers were raised this summer. Then the general secretary of the Norwegian Electric Vehicle Association, Christina Bu, believes that one must expect the prices to be reduced, now that the electricity price is much lower than it has been. Photo: Norwegian electric car association – They were very clear when they set the prices that it was because of high electricity prices. So now it is almost as if they have forgotten to lower the prices again. We hope it happens very quickly. She adds that it will always be more expensive to fast charge, because it requires a much higher power. Communications manager at Recharge, Elise Thorvaldsen, also mentions this. – At home you charge slowly, and in our public network with lightning chargers you get a relatively large amount of current in a short time. So a much higher effect. The vast majority charge at home and a fast charger is a supplement for charging, Thorvaldsen points out. At a charging station, there are also costs associated with the development of equipment, customer service, maintenance and the like. Elise Thorvaldsen is communications manager at Recharge. Photo: Recharge Follows the development Thorvaldsen says that as a player they follow the market situation and the development of the electricity price closely. – We will make new assessments if the current price list continues. In previous years, Recharge has changed the prices once or twice a year. But this year, when the electricity prices have been more variable, they have been forced to make adjustments more frequently. – We are following along and we are also considering it now that the prices are lower.
