Two brothers have been charged with aggravated espionage against Sweden on behalf of Russia. This is stated by the National Security Authority in a press release. The suspected offenses must have gone on for ten years, until as late as last autumn. In the press release, it appears that the one man has also been charged with grossly unrelated matters involving secret information. Much of the information in the preliminary investigation is secret, and the prosecution in Sweden will therefore have limited opportunities to talk about the content of the investigation. – It has been a complex investigation into a very difficult crime and the suspicion concerns very serious crime directed at Sweden’s intelligence and security system, says state attorney Per Lindqvist. The men who are now charged have been in custody since September and November 2021 respectively.
