3 November 2022 at 15:02 Tiril Eckhoff out indefinitely: – She has not been well The Norwegian Biathlon Union writes in a press release on Thursday that Tiril Eckhoff has “gone through a challenging period recently, and has not been doing well”. They write that, as a result, she cannot take part in training or competitions in the near future. – When she is back, we don’t know right now. She receives good follow-up and all the help she can get. We of course hope that Tiril feels better soon, says national team doctor Aasne Fenne Hoksrud. National team manager Per Arne Botnan says he has no idea how long Eckhoff will be out. – As we write, things are not quite optimal right now. Then we assess it continuously with a view to what happens in the future. For now, it is for an indefinite period, says Botnan. – We have had an assessment throughout the summer and autumn. As we have said before, it has been two tough seasons. After the corona (Eckhoff was infected by the coronavirus after the World Cup final in Holmenkollen last season) there has been a period that has been a bit tough in terms of sleep and excess, and then we have reassessed the situation with the coaches and the health team and see that we are not ready to compete yet, says Botnan. In February, the biathletes will go to the WC in Oberhof. Botnan says it is too early to say whether the championship can go without Eckhoff. – We take things as they come now. For the time being, it is not appropriate to enter any competitions, but we just have to make new assessments as time goes on and things develop, he says. Eckhoff has not participated in the national biathlon team’s meetings in the summer and autumn, and has herself stated that she has gone on a bit of a spree.
