Importance of Staying Informed

The meteorological agency emphasizes the significance of regularly checking weather updates. Variations in localized conditions can happen across different districts of Lima. Residents are encouraged to stay alert to the changing forecast, particularly as climate change has made rapid weather fluctuations more common than ever.

Precipitation Probability

There is a 22% chance of rain during the day and an 18% chance during the night. This means residents should remain prepared for unexpected showers.

Cloudiness Details

During the day, cloudiness is expected to be about 7%, while it will increase to 46% at night. These factors indicate a shift in weather patterns that may affect outdoor events planned for today.

Lima’s Unique Climate

In the department of Lima, there are 12 distinct climate types mainly characterized by its arid and temperate conditions. Lima’s weather is influenced heavily by its geography, being close to the sea and at low altitude, yet impacted by the cold Humboldt Current.

Due to this unique climate, areas within Lima experience an arid environment with very little humidity throughout the year. Rain is scarce, primarily occurring between July and September, making today a particularly notable exception for the system.

Climate Variations in Peru

Senamhi reports that Peru hosts up to 38 different climate types as a result of various geographical factors, including its location in the Tropic of Capricorn and its proximity to the Andes Mountains. The predominant climate types are:

  • Coastal Areas: Arid and temperate, representing just 11.6% of national territory.
  • Andean Region: Rainy and cold, covering 28.1% of the country.
  • Jungle Regions: Very rainy and hot, occupying 60.3% of Peru.
