The cousin’s lawyer Arvid Sjødin has petitioned for the compensation judgment to be annulled, and the cousin’s father told news last week that he hopes the Court of Appeal will now speed up the case. The cousin was acquitted of the murder in the Gulating Court of Appeal in 1998, but still ordered to pay compensation to Birgitte’s parents. In two weeks, the trial will start against another Karmøy man who is charged with the murder of Birgitte Tengs.
