In May 2026, the city of  Frontignan  will host the  10th edition  of the “ Let’s move our borders ” project. The event aims to raise awareness among the population, particularly young people, about the advantages of  European  and  international mobility .

If the time is for questioning the usefulness of Europe, it is different in Frontignan. Until  May 31, 2027 , the town of Frontignan is welcoming four  volunteers , aged 18 to 30, from  European mobility . Their project? Organizing an  international youth mobility fair  in May 2026 as part of the 10th edition of the “Let’s move our borders” project.

A Mission to Inform Young People

During this period, these  European volunteers  will benefit from the support of municipal services in carrying out their individual projects. *“Their mission will be to inform young Frontignan residents of the principles and realities of international mobility,”* indicates the elected twinning delegate  Georges Forner .

A Grant of €59,231

Funding for the reception of young European volunteers is provided by a  European grant  amounting to  €59,231  paid by the  Erasmus + agency . *“The city did not have to pay any additional money,”* adds Forner.

Local Projects

Since 2008, the city of Frontignan has actively participated in the  European Solidarity Corps  system, designed for young people residing in a  member state  of the European Union. Beneficiaries of this action can participate in local projects of general interest in another member country, lasting from  2 weeks to 12 months . They will assume their commitment within educational establishments (1) and associations (2).

Encouraging Young People to Leave

The  European Solidarity Corps  system focuses on local projects of general interest, contributing to the well-being of young people through non-profit activities in the  social ,  sporting ,  environmental , or  cultural fields . *“These European volunteers are doing extraordinary work with our young people,”* declares Mayor  Michel Arrouy . *“We must also encourage our young people to go away and discover the world. In terms of learning about life, it is useful. It is important to do it before entering professional life.”*

Europe Is Not Far

The Frontignan councilor challenges the common misconception: *“We often wrongly think that Europe is too far away. There are concrete actions of the  European Union  which are carried out in our municipalities. It is a set of  financing  which enables projects to be realized without costing the community anything.”*

Reimbursement of Expenses

As a host organization, the city of  Frontignan  takes charge of the management and payment of all costs linked to the reception of young people in accordance with the amounts set by the  European Commission . Thus, the  food package  amounts to  €300 monthly . Volunteers are fully reimbursed for travel costs, internet use, mobile telephony, accommodation charges, payment of vacations for French courses, and also visa costs, etc.

“Frontignan: Erasmus + Agency”

As a reminder, the town of Frontignan has been accredited as an  Erasmus + agency  for the reception of  European Solidarity Corps , commonly called  European volunteers . Each year, there is an agreement that the city signs to obtain funding for the reception of these young beneficiaries of the system.

1.  Simone de Beauvoir College ,  Sainte-Thérèse la Salle ,  Maurice-Clavel High School ,  Collège des deux Pins ,  Lavandins Primary Schools ;  Terres Blanche, Anatole France 1 and 2 .
2.  Scopie ,  FLR (Women in Languedoc Roussillon) ,  Emmaüs ,  Local Youth Integration Mission  (Frontignan branch), and certain municipal services such as the  Calmette Social Life Space  or youth services.

Frontignan’s commitment to promoting the European Solidarity Corps is a testament to its belief in the value of international mobility for youth. With substantial funding from the Erasmus + program and the active involvement of local authorities and organizations, young residents are given a platform to explore new horizons. The chance to connect, experience and engage with peers from other cultures prepares them for the global landscape, enhancing their understanding of diverse perspectives. With initiatives like these, the future of youth engagement seems promising, fostering not just local community ties but also international relationships.
