Overall, it retains a familiar form: a sturdy white plastic chassis with rounded edges and the same brush configuration:

We conclude this design section with the peculiar egg-shaped base, finished in glossy white. It’s different, innovative, and quirky. Considering its aesthetic appeal, it would find a perfect home in a modern kitchen. Although its dimensions were a selling point in the previous generation, it’s no longer as distinct due to increased competition.

The self-emptying base serves multiple functions: it not only charges the robot but also holds a dust bag and two water tanks—one for clean water and one for dirty water, all accessible from the top lid. Impressively, it includes a tray for storing mop pads when not in use, a useful feature that will come into play later.

Navigation: (Almost) Unmissable

For optimal results with a robot vacuum, it’s best to clear the cleaning area for two reasons: to avoid potential damage to objects like cables and to enable the vacuum to clean effectively without obstructions. However, it’s common to forget a shoe or leave dining chairs in place—often resulting in the robot getting stuck.

With the Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Pro, this won’t be an issue. It combines an RGB camera and object recognition technology to “see” its surroundings, alongside a LiDAR laser for navigation—essentially maintaining the same configuration as the previous version. Expect reliable navigation with minimal risk of loss or entrapment.

It maneuvers with impressive agility, accurately calculating where it can fit, allowing it to sneak between dining chair legs—even in tight spots. The biggest upgrade is its height-adjustable LiDAR sensor, enabling it to clean under radiators, sofas, and slightly opened wardrobe doors. It even has a built-in LED light for illuminating dark corners. However, watch out; spaces below eight centimeters may still pose a challenge.

The only time I had to intervene was when tackling one of the traditional nemeses of robot vacuums: thick, shaggy carpets. While it can climb obstacles up to four centimeters, its performance reduces significantly on plush, dense textures. The solution? Just remove or fold those carpets before cleaning.

Everything else, like wires and scattered items, is navigated quickly and efficiently. The vacuum covers each room in logical sequences, ensuring no spots are missed. You can even track its cleaning path via the app, which also displays identified obstacles.

Cleaning: Among the Best I’ve Tried

As mentioned earlier, ensuring the vacuum systematically covers the area is crucial for effective suction and mopping. The device boasts a suction power of up to 25,000 Pascals, complemented by its unique brushes and pads.

Within the app, you can choose from various suction and mopping options:

• Suction: Quiet, Normal, Turbo, Max, Max + (the latter is set as default for carpets).
• Mopping: Low, Medium, High, and Max water levels.

The app also allows you to customize cleaning passes and routes, set the order of cleaning, and even schedule tasks. I saved the best for last: SmartPlan, which adapts to your home layout, habits, and preferences for optimal cleaning. Overall, this model performs strongly in various conditions, handling both small particles and larger debris like lentils and crumbs with ease. It excels particularly with pet hair, thanks to its effective brushing and thoughtful engineering that works well in corners and baseboards.

Having tested several cleaning robots, I can confidently say that the Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Pro ranks among the best in terms of overall performance. While it may not have the longest brushes or dual rollers typical for pet-friendly designs, it impressively handles various cleaning scenarios.

Battery Life: Ready for a Long Job

The recent design optimizations have smartly condensed the size while enhancing suction power and maintaining a 6,400 mAh battery. Theoretically, it can last up to four hours, though this is under optimal conditions and low suction settings.

In practical testing, engaging with a cluttered house consumes significantly more battery life—taking around 67 minutes at max power to clean a typical home, consuming approximately 49% battery. This translates to about one and a half full clean cycles per charge.Just to put it in perspective, on medium setting, it can clean over three times in the same charge.

Should the battery run low, it autonomously returns to its base to recharge before completing its task. This self-resumption feature is essential, ensuring consistent cleanliness throughout larger houses. An Advanced App Ideal for Tech Enthusiasts

The Roborock app is available for free [Android] and [iOS] and boasts various features that tech-savvy users will appreciate. However, it primarily operates on the 2.4 GHz WiFi band and is also compatible with Matter.

The interface offers an impressive range of options: from mapping areas, adjusting cleaning preferences, and even scheduling tasks. However, for those not well-versed in tech, the multitude of settings could feel overwhelming at times.

In reality, most users may find the default settings adequate for regular cleaning needs, but those wanting a simplified experience would appreciate a more user-friendly option.

Minimal and Convenient Maintenance

When dealing with a basic robot vacuum, constant monitoring of their dustbins is necessary after each cleaning. With the addition of mopping, considerations for water refills and mop maintenance can escalate. Fortunately, the Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Pro alleviates these tasks.

Its base manages the self-cleaning and drying of the mops while accumulating dirt in a bag that can last for up to three months of non-pet household use. Potential concerns include checking on consumables and the occasional clean of sensors or brush entanglements.

The only drawback remains its struggle with thicker rugs. Overall, though, few robot vacuums offer the extensive feature set and performance of this model.

Meanwhile, the app’s features, although slightly overwhelming, cater well to tech enthusiasts, providing comprehensive control and customization options. Ultimately, with a few minor aesthetic adjustments left to be made, Roborock has undoubtedly set a high bar within this competitive space.
