6 October 2022 at 17:13 Støre: Need to tighten up on Russian fishing vessels now Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Ap) says that the information the government has received made it necessary to tighten up on Russian fishing vessels. The government has been faced with demands to do this for several months. Norway is the only country that has had an exception that gives Russian fishing vessels access to our ports. On Thursday, the government announced a tightening. The fishing vessels are only allowed to dock in the ports of Kirkenes, Tromsø and Båtsfjord. – Why didn’t you do this before? – It is because we wanted to have a factual basis before we made a decision. Therefore, this is something that we must have good insight into and a good overview of before we make a decision. What we have seen so far has made it necessary to tighten up, says Støre to NTB.
