As every year at this time, Google has just presented its new devices. We already have all the details of the Pixel 10, the Pixel Watch 4, and the folding Pixel 10 Pro Fold, but we also know the new Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL. They are the maximum photographic exponents of Google for this year, and the  differences in sizes  proposed by the previous generation are continued together.

Google has played it safe this year and, like many brands in this segment, has maintained the design of the previous generation. Thus, we have the camera module in an oval at the top, although with updates in materials and certifications. The  screen  features Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and that material is also used on the glass rear, which has a matte finish. The framework is made from  aerospace-grade aluminum  and has IP68 certification.

The device boasts that aluminum is recycled, with the packaging free from plastic elements. In fact, 30% of the materials in the Pixel 10 Pro and 29% in the Pixel 10 Pro XL are recycled. The front hosts a  superior screen  with diagonals of 6.3 and 6.8 inches, depending on the model, featuring an LTPO panel capable of adjusting from 1 to 120 Hz. The peak brightness rises to 3,300 nits, which becomes extremely beneficial during summer, although the usual brightness is 2,000 nits.

What is not recycled is the processor, which introduces the  G5 Tensor  that works alongside the Titan M2 chip for improved security. The devices have 16 GB of RAM, with Google being rather stingy with technical details. They stated that the TPU cores dedicated to AI are  60% more powerful , along with a new ISP for image processing, and that the  CPU is 34% faster  than the previous generation.

The battery capacity is  4,870 mAh  for the Pixel 10 Pro and  5,200 mAh  for the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

Importantly, while the U.S. version joins Apple’s movement with the iPhone 14 and is only compatible with eSIM, the Pixel 10 continues to offer a  Nano SIM slot  in Spain and other European countries.

Android 16 with Gemini at the Controls

The system and cameras are the essence of the Pixel lineup, and this generation features  Android 16  from launch, with seven years of system updates and security, along with  “Pixel Drop”  features that are periodically added. Thanks to an agreement with Google DeepMind, the Pixel 10 will employ the  Gemini Nano  model for operational enhancements.

The cameras are a standout feature for the Pixel series. Here’s a breakdown of the  lenses and sensors  used in the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL:

• Main Camera: 50 megapixels with f/1.68 aperture, 82-degree viewing angle, and a 1/1.3” sensor size.
• Ultra-Wide Camera: 48 megapixels with autofocus, f/1.7 aperture, 123-degree angle, and a 1/2.55” sensor size.
• Telephoto: 48 megapixels with optical stabilization, f/2.8 aperture, and a 1/2.55” sensor size. It offers 5x optical zoom, extendable up to 100x using AI and resolution enhancement.
• Front Camera: 42 megapixels with f/2.2 aperture and autofocus.

The rear cameras are enhanced by an LDAF laser sensor, optical stabilization on both the main and telephoto lenses, digital stabilization, and video recording capabilities up to 8K with the rear camera and 4K60 with the front.

The photographic system harnesses artificial intelligence for advanced processing beyond typical HDR calculations. The  Camera Coach  feature uses AI to guide users in achieving better photographic compositions, suggesting optimal angles while taking pictures. If users dislike the suggestion, they can ignore it but will gradually learn to enhance their “photographic eye.”

Additionally, users can verbally request edits by stating preferences, such as “adjust the lighting of this image,” and the AI will process the commands accordingly. Google has also introduced  C2PA content credentials  into the native camera app to provide metadata for photos, helping track edits made using manual or AI tools.
