Unveiling the Past: The Testimony Surrounding Diego Fernández Lima’s Disappearance
In recent developments regarding the long-standing mystery surrounding Diego Fernández Lima, shocking allegations have emerged from a former high school classmate, Adrián. In a televised interview, Adrián recounted a traumatic experience that he had kept hidden for years, shedding light on Fernández Lima’s character and the context of his disappearance.
Adrián, now an adult, disclosed that he had previously attended National School of Technical Education No. 36 where he met both Diego Fernández Lima and Cristian Graf—the latter currently under scrutiny in connection with the investigation into Fernández Lima’s disappearance more than four decades ago. The school, noted for accepting problematic students, was often a battleground of behavior issues and conflicts—a background that highlights the complexities of the relationships formed within its walls.
During the interview, Adrián described his experience with both boys, stating that Cristian Graf was, in contrast, a “quiet boy” with no ill intent. Adrián clarified that he did not maintain any friendships with either of them, noting, “I didn’t know either’s house. I didn’t get along with either, they were not my friends.”
However, his portrayal of Diego was strikingly different. He referred to Fernández Lima as “quite problematic” and explained that he witnessed Fernando engage in fights, albeit not always instigated by Graf. More startling were the allegations that would come to follow.
Adrián disclosed a deeply unsettling incident from their school days. “Diego tried to violate me in the school bath.” This revelation echoed with intensity as he stated, “In that situation, he wanted to take advantage of me.” At the time, Diego was older than Adrián due to having repeated grades. Adrián indicated that he managed to escape this traumatic encounter, recapitulating, “I don’t know how I did, but I managed to get it off.”
This experience did not come to light until much later in his life, only becoming a topic of discussion in therapy sessions. Adrián revealed, “That my old men never knew, they found out recently.”
Adrián vividly remembered the disappearance of Fernández Lima in July 1984, stating, “It came out everywhere that he disappeared; it was Vox Populi, it came out in the newspapers, everything.” Yet, at that time, no one linked the incident with the Graf family, nor did they suspect the grim revelations that would follow.
Following Diego’s disappearance, Cristian Graf continued attending school unaffected by the widespread turmoil, an aspect that perplexed Adrián, who admitted, “I saw him and not even I imagined what was discovered today.”
In May of this year, Fernández Lima’s remains were finally discovered during construction work at a house on Congress 3742 in Coghlan, Buenos Aires, where the Graf family had resided. A team of masons unearthed human bones, leading to a police investigation that confirmed the remains belonged to the long-missing adolescent.
Although the homicide case has prescribed, National Prosecutor Martín López Perrando is pursuing a trial for the truth to uncover the full narrative of what transpired and who might be responsible. Simultaneously, Javier Fernández Lima, Diego’s brother, is advocating for the “Diego Law,” inspired by Piazza Law, which aims to extend the prescription deadlines in cases of disappearances.
Adrián concluded his revelations by stating that he has had no contact with his former friends or their acquaintances since leaving the school. “Since I left that school, I did not contact anyone; I have no dealings and never intended to.” The implications of his testimony and the ongoing investigation may yet deliver long-awaited justice for the Fernandez Lima family.
