Seili’s father,  Gilberto de Hoyos , expressed his outrage and grief, demanding answers regarding the security measures—or lack thereof—at the nightclub. “What I ask is justice. How is it possible for a person to enter a packed nightclub without being requisitioned?” he lamented in a statement to the regional newspaper,  The Universal .

In a heart-wrenching moment,  Gilberto de Hoyos  further detailed the events preceding the tragic shooting. He shared that the family had gathered that night for a political event celebrating a relative’s birthday. “The entire family was there, and I left around 1 AM. My daughter was with her uncle and two friends,” he recounted. Just a few hours later, Seili’s life was tragically cut short.

Eyewitness accounts revealed that a man entered the nightclub around 5 AM, intoxicated and armed, without being subjected to any security checks. This individual, known as  The Peri , a supposed  manager of musical artists , was reportedly familiar to some attendees, which likely allowed him to bypass standard procedures. “My daughter’s friends say he wasn’t checked at the door, and by the time he arrived, he was already brandishing a gun, threatening women,” Gilberto added, illustrating the chaotic scene that led to his daughter’s untimely demise.

This heartbreaking incident shines a light on the  urgent need for improved safety protocols  in public venues, particularly those that serve alcohol. It raises critical questions surrounding the level of protection provided to patrons in social settings and the policies governing firearm possession in such environments. As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of a promising life—a life that was just beginning to impact the world positively.

Seili Paola de Hoyos Acosta’s death has left a profound void in her family and community, with many calling for justice and reform in the name of safer nightlife experiences.
