Independiente Santa Fe achieved its  tenth star , defeating Deportivo Independiente Medellín  1-2  in the second leg of the Grand Final of the  Betplay League.  This victory marks a significant milestone, as it is the club’s first championship in nine years. The decisive match took place in the historic Atanasio Girardot stadium on June 29, 2025.

The match was electrifying, with goals from  Harold Santiago Mosquera  and  Hugo Rodallega  securing the championship title for Santa Fe. The victory not only adds to their impressive history but also ignites immense joy among the fans who have waited nearly a decade for this moment.

While the energies on the pitch were jubilant, the stands experienced moments of chaos. Reports indicate that  Medellín fans  confronted some Santa Fe supporters who had unlawfully infiltrated the stadium despite being denied admission. Such circumstances prompted police intervention to ensure safety, resulting in several Santa Fe fans being detained within the stadium’s confines.

“Medellín fans went crazy and started attacking all Santa Fe infiltrators. We had to request police custody, and now we’re all the boys who love Santa Fe locked in Atanasio’s dungeon,” recounted one detained fan via social media.

In a surprising twist, the same fan shared photos that showcased Santa Fe supporters celebrating in the stadium’s dungeon, making gestures to commemorate their team’s  tenth title . “Never in my life did I imagine celebrating a championship this way,” remarked the fan.

Tactically,  Independiente Medellín , under coach  Alejandro Restrepo , opted for a compact  4-4-2 formation . Their starting lineup featured goalkeeping from  Washington Aguerre , with a defense comprised of  Jherson Mosquera, Jhon Palacios, José Ortiz , and  Daniel Londoño . The midfield included  Homer Martínez, Baldomero Perlaza, Léider Berrio , and  Francisco Chaverra , while the attack was led by  Brayan León  and  Francisco Fydriszewski .

On the other hand,  Independiente Santa Fe , managed by  Jorge Bava , employed an aggressive  4-3-3 setup .  Andrés Mosquera Marmolejo  manned the goal, supported by a defensive line of  Elvis Perlaza, Emmanuel Olivera, Víctor Moreno,  and  Christian Mafla . The midfield trio consisted of  Daniel Torres, Yílmar Velásquez , and  Jhojan Torres , while their attacking front boasted  Omar Phrase  on the left,  Santiago Mosquera  on the right, and the team captain  Hugo Rodallega  leading the charge despite battling an injury.

Historically,  Atlético Nacional  leads the Colombian league titles with an impressive  18 championships , followed by  Millonarios FC  with  16 titles , and  América de Cali  with  15 crowns . Notable clubs like  Deportivo Cali, Santa Fe,  and  Junior  each hold ten titles. Santa Fe’s recent success in 2025 further solidifies their legacy in Colombian football.

The remaining honors in Colombian football include  Independiente Medellín  with  6 titles ,  Once Caldas  with  4 ,  Deportes Tolima  with  3 , and numerous teams boasting just one official title, including  Bucaramanga, Deportivo Pasto, Quindío, Unión Magdalena,  and  Cúcuta . This championship win serves as a powerful reminder of Santa Fe’s long-standing presence and competitiveness in Colombian football.
