Concepción del Uruguay Aims for Guinness Record with Over 7,000 Kilos of Roasted Chicken
The city of Concepción del Uruguay, partnering with a local refrigerator company, is gearing up for an impressive event. On Saturday, June 28, they will host a solidarity initiative aimed at breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest amount of roasted chicken meat ever prepared. This event coincides with both the 242nd anniversary of the city and the 60th anniversary of the company involved.
The festivities kick off bright and early at 6 AM , when teams will begin setting up over 350 square meters of grilling space, equipped with 90 grills . According to representatives from Fepasa, the aim is to exceed the current record of 6,487.90 kilos by roasting over 7,000 kilos of chicken , meticulously adhering to the Guinness World Records protocol.

To meet the strict world record guidelines, all chickens need to be placed on the grills almost concurrently. This task will be timed by Guinness officials , as it must be completed in under five minutes to be recognized as valid. An international judge arriving from Colombia will oversee the entire process, ensuring adherence to the guidelines.
According to Marcos Link, the president of Fepasa, this endeavor is more than just a record attempt; it’s about promoting local poultry farming . “We hope to break the record and keep it in Concepción del Uruguay for the long term. Poultry farming is crucial for our city and province, and we are honored to represent it,” he stated in an interview with local media outlet *One Entre Ríos*.
The planning for this monumental event has required over two months of preparation . Interestingly, there is also a solidarity aspect to the event, as the company has donated all the chickens, which will be distributed among 65 local institutions . These entities, which include social, sports, educational, and health organizations, have previously offered portions to the community and will utilize funds raised to support their respective projects.
Community participation has been vital for logistics; many of the grills being used were constructed by the Local Technical School , while others have been generously provided by the participating organizations. The doors to the event will open to the public at 8 AM , giving community members a chance to witness the historic grilling process.
“We invite everyone to come by at eight to see the chickens being placed on the grill. This will be a milestone occasion , as they must all be positioned within five minutes for the record to count,” explained Pamela Fontana, from the Fepasa Human Resources Area.
The distribution of the chicken to beneficiary institutions is planned for 12:30 PM . The organization has made it clear that anyone who has purchased a portion can pick it up, regardless of the affiliated institution. “The chickens are donated by Fepasa. Each institution had previously advertised their portions, and people will arrive with their vouchers. It doesn’t matter where the voucher is from; the chicken will be given based on the voucher,” Fontana elaborated.
This event marks a unique moment for Argentina, as it will be the first attempt to break the Guinness record for the largest portion of roasted chicken . “It promises to be a great show,” Fontana concluded.
Alongside the culinary event, attendees can expect musical performances and a marketplace featuring local entrepreneurs . As the day unfolds, Rossana Sosa Zitto , the vice mayor of Concepción del Uruguay, emphasized the municipality’s commitment to ensuring the smooth operation of the event. “We are collaborating with the municipal team to guarantee that everything runs smoothly. We invite the entire community to come out and be part of this celebration,” she said, according to *One Entre Ríos*.
By 10:30 AM , the governor of the province, Rogelio Frigerio , is anticipated to make an appearance, adding another layer of excitement to this unprecedented occasion.
