23 September 2022 at 12:46 Statnett recommends that the operation of Mongstad be extended until June next year The gas power plant at Mongstad should be used as a means of dealing with a strained power situation, Statnett believes. It appears that a letter, dated 7 September, that Statnett has sent to the Norwegian Directorate of Water Resources and Energy (NVE). The gas power plant was scheduled to close on 31 August, but at the beginning of August Statnett asked Equinor to continue operations until 1 October. “Statnett has been in dialogue with Equinor about the possibility of utilizing Energiverk Mongstad (EVM) as a means of dealing with a potentially very strained power situation (SAKS). As a result of this, we already want to inform you that Statnett is considering the use of EVM as a relevant SAKS tool until the beginning of June 2023,” the letter says. (NTB)
