Serenay Sarıkaya Reflects on Emotional Moments During Kurban Bayramı

Renowned Turkish actress Serenay Sarıkaya recently shared her heartfelt sentiments on the morning of Kurban Bayramı, a significant festive occasion in Turkey. In her emotional message, Sarıkaya expressed the deep-rooted traditions and personal connections she values during this special time.

Bayram Traditions and Family Connections

In her words, "Every Eid, just like this one, I dressed up in my finest clothes first, as my maternal family takes the tradition of looking beautiful and well-groomed very seriously for holiday gatherings, especially when visiting my grandmother." She described how she began her day by reaching out to her loved ones, starting with her father. Acknowledging the importance of timely communication, she noted, “I called my father first. The later I call him, the more upset he becomes.”

Sarıkaya continued, “I caught him right after the Eid prayer. I told him how much I love him and wished for many more holidays filled with health and happiness.”

After speaking with her father, Serenay shared her conversation with her mother, who had prepared a beautiful holiday breakfast and was about to head out for a walk. “I told her how much I love her,” she added, recalling her mother noticing the sadness in her eyes. Her mother’s comforting words were, “Thank God we are healthy, and for these things, we should be grateful. Embrace everyone and everything today.”

The emotional weight of these words resonated with Sarıkaya as she briefly turned away to hide her tears, reflecting on her family legacy.

Remembering Loved Ones

Traditionally, she would have called her grandmother next, the last matriarch of her family, who passed away last year. Serenay fondly remembered her grandmother as someone who loved her dearly. “She would always giggle when I expressed how much I missed her, and she enjoyed it immensely,” Sarıkaya recalled.

As she reflected on her favorite memories, she mentioned, “Until she got my name right, she’d call out my mother’s and my aunt’s names before finally saying, ‘Serenayyy, my dear.’ She would lament about her health, her pains, and the passing years.” When talking about her grandmother, one could sense the warmth and nostalgia enveloping her emotions.

“Then I would call my dear cousin Ayşe. Most likely, I would catch her in her village home, where she always answers the phone with a huge smile,” Sarıkaya added. Her cousin was known for loving to host family gatherings. “She would undoubtedly ask me to come, saying, ‘Come on, you can return in a day or two.’”

A Call for Unity and Love

Despite the absence of beloved family members, Sarıkaya emphasized the essence of familial bonds, saying, “I feel a sense of longing and sadness for not being able to gather around her table these days.” However, she affirmed that she sincerely wishes everyone a joyful holiday.

“With all these emotions—be it sadness, incompleteness, or distance—I wholeheartedly celebrate and embrace all your Eid wishes. As long as we are alive and healthy, and as we continue to love and cherish one another, everything will heal and become beautiful,” Sarıkaya concluded with a heartfelt message of unity and love, wishing everyone a happy Eid.

In her touching narrative, Serenay Sarıkaya encapsulated the spirit of Kurban Bayramı—not just as a time of celebration, but as a reminder of love, gratitude, and unity within families. Her reflections serve as a poignant reminder to treasure every moment spent with loved ones.

As we embrace these sentiments, let us also take a moment to reflect on our own relatives and the bonds that tie us together, especially during festive occasions like Kurban Bayramı.

In a world increasingly yearning for togetherness, Sarıkaya’s message gently reminds us that love and family remain at the heart of our most cherished cultural traditions.

Eid Mubarak to all, may your celebrations be filled with love, joy, and unity.
