House of femme in Trondheim focuses on women’s health – news Trøndelag

– I think there is something about the atmosphere and security here. It’s very nice that it’s only ladies, and that there’s a sense of togetherness. That’s what Marianne Fjeldsæter says, who is doing baby training with her little son Linus. At the House of Femme health center, she trains together with many other new mothers who need advice and guidance after giving birth. – There are many challenges that a birth brings with it, and it is not so easy to get back to the body you had before the birth. I think it is talked about too little. Marianne Fjeldsæter with her son Linus. I felt a bit broken and it was tough not having anyone to talk to about how it was after the birth. But through friends, she got tips about the health centre, and it has been positive for her. – I feel that it is safe and good to be here. The center in Trondheim has focused on women’s health since its inception 12 years ago, and offers, among other things, training, a doctor, a psychologist, a gynecologist and a lactation consultant. Now the debate is raging about what good women’s health is. What is good women’s health? Just before the weekend, the three Norwegian celebrities Synnøve Skarbø, Vanessa Rudjord and Pia Tjelta announced that they are opening “Norway’s leading clinic for aesthetic medicine”. The use of the word women’s health in the same breath as women’s appearance has not gone down well with many. At House of Femme in Trondheim, wellness treatment is offered, but not surgical cosmetic procedures. – We don’t want that at House of Femme, says founder Simone Anzjøn Holbø. Started with baby training – I want to focus on health. That is why we have chosen to do it that way. Together with co-founder Mona Rygvold Reppe, she wanted to start a health center with a focus on women’s health, as they felt that pregnant women were not getting enough information about exercise during pregnancy. – We just had to do it. As young physical therapy students, we learned a lot about what we couldn’t do in exercise, and we saw that it scared people off from being active while pregnant. As many as 80 per cent of pregnant women chose not to exercise when we started 12 years ago. Now she thinks this has gotten much better. – Fortunately, things have now turned around and more and more pregnant women are active. We also see that this is a trend that has spread throughout the country. Founder of House of femme, Simone Anzjøn Holbø. She says most people are proud of their bodies and think it’s nice to see the changes during pregnancy. But many can feel insecurity after giving birth, she believes. – The body has changed, they may have some stretch marks. Many people then become uncertain and wonder if it is normal. Therefore, women’s health is important to her, and believes that it is good that the debate is now coming. – For me, women’s health is about knowledge and understanding of how a woman’s body changes throughout her life. How can we prevent ailments, treat them and what is normal. Midwife Dorte Kuhn Photo: Bent Lindsetmo / news Wants women to feel good Baby training is coming to an end. For mum Marianne Fjeldsæter, she thinks it is stupid that women’s appearance becomes part of the concept of women’s health. – I think you should be happy no matter what body you have, and the most important thing is that it works and that you feel good about yourself. But the fact that the debate on women’s health is now coming, she thinks, is only good. – I think there has been too little focus on women’s health. That it is being taken up more, I think is positive.
