The organization has now sent a letter to the energy committee and the finance committee at the Storting, where they ask for an improved electricity subsidy for households, where the state reimburses all electricity expenses over 50 øre per kilowatt hour. General secretary Morten Andreas Meyer says that a family with two adults and two children can have total electricity expenses of NOK 7,500 in January, if the electricity price is NOK 10 on average for each kilowatt hour. Corresponding expenses were NOK 3,100 on average in the years 2014–2019 for a similar family. Fiscal policy spokesperson Geir Pollestad in the Center Party says that the electricity subsidy scheme that applies from 1 September, where the state covers 90 per cent of the electricity price above 70 øre, is good, and that there is no reason to strengthen the electricity subsidy.
