Would Martine be the best ambassador that France has known? After having crisscrossed the Louvre museum, the Palace of Versailles, barred through Brittany and strolled in Paris, the heroine of children’s literature imagined in 1954 heads for the Côte d’Azur.

Released in April as part of a partnership between Casterman and Côte d’Azur France Tourisme, this sixty-fifth album was thought of as a tourist guide. Martine discovers the Saleya course market in Nice, the coves of Antibes, the place to the grass in Grasse, the house of Jacques Prévert – “La Miette” -, In Saint-Paul-de-Vence, the Palais de Carnolès in Menton, the Mercantour National Park, and even dreams of a movie star on the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival…

So many destinations that we find mapped at the end of the album for those who would like to walk in the steps of the heroine of their childhood. Since 2021, Martine has taken a new turn both on the editorial and artistic level: his adventures are anchored in very real geographic sites, while the illustrations cheerfully mix drawings and photos of postcards.
