This is confirmed by national team manager Hege Riise to news. – It’s a role I’m comfortable with and intend to take very seriously, says Hegerberg to news. At the same time, Maren Mjelde continues in the role of captain, which she has had since 2015. – It was important for us to make a proper assessment about it, and feel that we have a strong duo there, says Riise, and adds that they have used good time on the assessment. She says she thinks Mjelde has done a good job as captain over time, and thus gets extended trust as captain. In addition, she gets a new “spearhead” in Hegerberg. – With the power that Ada has, she is a natural leader and we want to have that. Caroline Graham Hansen was vice-captain, but has chosen to take a break from the national team. Ingrid Syrstad Engen has also been vice-captain until now, but will not continue in that role. Engen tells news that she respects the decision of the national team manager, and thinks it is absolutely right to have Mjelde and Hegerberg in the captain’s team.
