On February 10, Donald Trump featured in the oval office of the White House the signing of a decree acting at the return to “Plastic straws” in the American administration. Ten days later, in France, the government discreetly submitted a draft decree which opens the way to a return of cutlery and plastic dishes in school canteens.
Supported by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, the text returns to a provision provided for by the EGALIM law of November 2018: the prohibition from 1er January 2025 of “Food containers” Plastic (intended for cooking, warming and service) in collective catering, from crèche to university. This prohibition had been extended by antigaspillage law for a circular economy of 2020 to pediatric, obstetrics and maternity services. The draft decree offers“Exclude the containers used for the consumption of dishes”including the dishes (plate, goblet, etc.) and cutlery.
THE text is put in public consultation Until March 14. Despite the absence of advertising and bugs on the digital platform, nearly 1,000 comments had been filed on March 10. “Heresy”,, “Incomprehensible”,, “Unacceptable retropedage” : it is an understatement to say that the government’s proposal, accused of having “Gave in lobbies”, arouses an unfavorable tide of advice which denounces “A big step back for the health of our children and the preservation of our environment”. They come from worried parents, environmental organizations or doctors.
