Friday 20 December will be the busiest day in air traffic during Christmas. Almost 131,000 people take flights on this day, according to Avinor. In the next two weeks, a total of 1.9 million passengers will travel through the country’s largest airports. – We want to give people the best start to the Christmas holidays that we can. We are well staffed and are ready for the last big departure of the year, which this year comes close to Christmas Eve, says Thorgeir Landevaag, executive director of Avinor. These are figures from the airports in Bergen, Stavanger, Oslo and Trondheim. Of those taking flights on this day, there are 19,750 passengers from Bergen Airport, 83,500 from Oslo, 11,600 from Stavanger and 16,000 from Trondheim. The day with the second most traffic during Christmas is Thursday 19 December. Then there are 120,400 who take flights. On Christmas Eve, almost 31,000 people fly. 5 January will be the busiest departure day in the New Year, with close to 117,000 travellers. For those going abroad, these are the top Christmas destinations: Spain, England, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Poland, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland and Turkey.
