news Brennpunkt revealed three years ago an extensive investment project referred to as the “Million adventure”. Over 20 people invested over NOK 40 million in the project against the promise of a quick and high return. The payments have been made all the way back to 2005. No one has seen anything of the money after it was invested. Økokrim has referred to the project as a castle in the air. In the end, Jan Helge Furu from Farsund was prosecuted by Økokrim for fraud and fraud of over NOK 17 million. The penalty was up to six years in prison. On Monday, the verdict was handed down, and Furu was sentenced to prison for 3 years and ten months. He is also sentenced to pay close to NOK 4.4 million in compensation, as well as confiscation of assets worth almost NOK 19 million. The Ringerrike, Asker and Bærum district court concluded that the investment project had no reality, and that it was not suitable to provide any return for the investors. The judgment states that Furu knew or should have known that the project was fake. Jan Helge Furu has stated that he himself was duped into the project, and that he himself has invested and lost millions. Defense attorney Arnt Angell says that his client is disappointed by the verdict. – We will review the judgment and will consider appealing. – Social manipulation news revealed in 2021 how Norwegians and Swedes have invested millions in what is referred to as “The Project”. Few, if any, have seen anything worth the money since. Økokrim believes Furu has deliberately deceived both friends and acquaintances for a long time. – The fraud is carried out using social manipulation. Trust and a relationship have been built between the fraudster and the victims over a long period of time, State Attorney Anne Glede Alum has previously stated to news. In the fraud charge itself, there were a total of five victims. According to it, Furu is said, among other things, to have cheated a former friend out of more than NOK 3 million. Two other victims, an old family friend and a man introduced to Furu by a colleague, respectively invested over half a million kroner and a quarter of a million kroner in the investment project. Furu was found guilty of gross fraud against all five. The court concludes that Furu made false promises about returns. He also used large amounts for his own consumption, while at the same time giving the impression that the money should cover costs related to the investment project, according to the judgement. Says he himself was deceived Furu has told in a witness statement in Swedish court that up to 2010, 92 million Norwegian kroner and at least 255 million Swedish kroner had been collected for the “Project”. According to the indictment, Furu received around NOK 14 million from a Swedish mastermind over a longer period. He was found guilty of gross fraud for receiving this money. In the judgment, the court concludes that Furu knew that this was the proceeds of fraud in Sweden. Furu pictured with what is supposed to be the Swedish main man. He has also invested several millions in the project himself, he has stated in court. Furu has previously claimed that he has been portrayed in an unfair way, and that the media and Økokrim have painted a bad picture of him.
