This year they have approved 300 applications from families who cannot afford Christmas celebrations and Christmas presents. And they are working on approving more applications. The work started locally in Drammen. In the last two years, they have sent Christmas presents all over the country. – It is big for us. This means that there is more money for Christmas presents and to help many more people, says organizational manager of Rett Fram Oppelvelser Ronny Johnsen. 5,000 packages The gifts that are sent have been purchased by the organization itself with the match money. This week they started with wrapping, gift ribbons and name tags. Before 22 December, 5,000 Christmas presents will be sent all over Norway. So far, more than 3,900 people and companies have contributed. – The vast majority of people notice from the economy that there are difficult times. It is very pleasant that many still have a surplus, financially and mentally. And contributes to those who need it most, says Hansen. In both 2022 and 2023, over NOK 6 million came into the joint. More than NOK 12.5 million have come in together. Hard packs There are double days in December for project manager Hanne Aadalen. She coordinates the sending of the Christmas presents. And it should not be soft, but hard packages. – We attach socks, mittens and useful things. But it should be fun for the children, says Aadalen. – That’s why we put in batteries where needed. So the children can play with it straight away, she says. One donation took his breath away. In the two previous years, the money has steadily grown towards Christmas Eve. – There are many good causes, and you should give because you want to, says Mads Hansen.
