– The case has throughout been investigated based on several hypotheses, including whether there may be alternative perpetrators, says prosecutor Mette Kollstrøm in Trøndelag police district. The police write in a press release that they have been in contact with several new witnesses. They have also re-examined witnesses. In December 2021, the state attorney ordered that the case be re-investigated. Silje Marie Redergård (5) was found dead in a toboggan run at Tiller in Trondheim in 1994. At the time, three boys aged four, five and six were blamed for her friend’s death. New investigations The police write in the press release that they have carried out new technical investigations into the case. Among other things, an expert assessment based on an autopsy report from 1994. They have also gone through records from public agencies again. Kripos has also assisted in the investigation. The investigation is now entering a final phase before the Trøndelag State Attorney’s Office will process the case further. The three boys who had the status of suspects in 1994 still have the same status, the police point out.
