At 04.34 on Thursday morning, the fire service received a report of a fire in a wheel loader on the E16 in the Bogatunnel in Vaksdal. The wheel loader was approximately one kilometer inside the tunnel. – There were several trucks inside the tunnel when the fire started, and some must have backed out on the south side, operations manager Bjarte Rebnord in the West police district tells news. Acting duty commander Lars Petter Lorvik in 110 West says that they moved out with resources from both Vaksdal, Dale, Arna and Åsane. – Both open flames and smoke from the wheel loader were observed, says Lorvik. That way we could enter the tunnel from the south and put out the fire, says Lorvik. At 05.30 the fire was declared extinguished. The fire service has searched through the entire tunnel. No other vehicles or persons have been found. E16 closed As a result of the fire, the Bogata tunnel and the Jamna tunnel on the E16 are closed until further notice. Detour is via Fv. 49, informs Vegtrafikksentralen west. The operations manager says the Bogatunnel on the E16 will probably be closed for several hours into the morning on Thursday. The Jamna Tunnel, just north of Vaksdal, is also closed as a result of the fire. The detour is via county road 49, signs Vegtrafikksentralen West. At 06.17, the Road Traffic Center informs that the clean-up in the Botagunnel is under way. But that it is unclear when the road can open again.
