– We hope to have a full overview during the day, says general manager Knut Forsberg. On Tuesday morning at 6 o’clock, the auction house Blomqvist was exposed to a shock failure. Thieves backed a car into the windows of the premises at Fornebu. According to surveillance images, two masked thieves entered the premises. They smashed glass fitters and supplied themselves with watches and jewellery. After about half a minute they were out again. No one arrested The following day, no people were arrested after the shock burglary. – The police are still early in the investigation and are now working to get an overview of the case and the sequence of events, writes police attorney Jelena Corovic in an e-mail to news. She says that the police have made some progress in the investigation. – Due to the investigation, we cannot share further details at this time, but we will return with more information when we have a development in the case. – Disappointed owner As early as Monday, Blomqvist started counting goods after the break-in. They quickly found out that the thieves had taken a piece of silver from the Kongsberg mines worth between NOK 200,000 and 250,000. This silver stuff was to be auctioned off. But upon closer examination, the thieves had also taken a “Tank Louis” watch from Cartier. Value around NOK 50,000 to 60,000. The thieves took this Cartier watch. The watch should have been auctioned off at a large luxury auction which ends on Tuesday evening. There were two bidders on the watch. – They had heard the news, so they weren’t that surprised, says Forsberg. Five watches stolen The auction house has now finished counting watches. A total of five were stolen. Men’s watch – Baume & Mercier “Classima”. Valuation: NOK 12,000 – 14,000. Men’s watch – Cartier “Tank Louis”. Valuation: NOK 50,000 – 60,000 Men’s watch – Longines Sport Chief. Valuation: NOK 6000 – 8000. Men’s watch – Rado “Diastar”. Valuation: NOK 6,000 – 8,000. Men’s watch Omega Seamaster. Valuation: NOK 6,000 – 8,000. The total value is around NOK 80,000 to 100,000. On Tuesday, it was uncertain whether the thieves had also taken luxury bags. It now turns out that no bags are missing. Blomqvist is now well on his way to counting jewellery. But it is a more extensive job. They still believe that the profit from the shock break could be close to a million kroner. Well secured Surveillance images from Blomqvist show that the thieves backed into the glass facade several times before they managed to get into the premises at Fornebu. The general manager believes the thieves were looking for watches and jewelery which had been on display during the day, but which are stored elsewhere at night. On video images, he has seen that one of the thieves was clearly confused. – The fitter he was supposed to smash was empty. And he has seen that the other thief went straight to a glass cabinet he was supposed to empty. – There were quite a few empty watch boxes and the like, so there wasn’t much profit there either. This is where the thieves got in. Photo: Jane Rasmussen / news What do you think of their security after what happened yesterday? – It has worked, and our instructions and routines have worked. – It shows that our premises are very well secured, says Forsberg.
