They have gone on strike for higher wages. – It hurts to think about the group we are now unable to help, said assistant nurse Kirsti Benberg in the Salvation Army. They usually distribute food from the premises at Hveita every Friday. Now she and others can go back to work again, after the strike has now been called off. The Salvation Army wanted to get a dispensation from the strike, so that they could continue with food distribution on Fridays in Trondheim. The employers’ organization NHO refused to apply for it. The reason is that there was no danger to life and health. Strike over Friday evening an agreement was reached when the parties to the wage settlement met at the Riksmekleren. NHO regrets that vulnerable groups have been affected. – The strike has caused both financial and operational problems for the companies where many employees have been on strike, and vulnerable groups have unfortunately also been affected, says negotiating leader Hilde–Marie Martinsen in NHO. – It has been a very demanding mediation and we have gone a long way, but we are happy that the strike is now over, she says.
