Landslide in Rana – considering evacuation – Latest news – news

There has been a landslide between the E12 and Nordlysbuen in Rana. No people or buildings were damaged. The police, fire and municipality are on the scene and are assessing whether nearby homes should be evacuated. – It is relatively large, says operations manager Remi Johansen in the Nordland police district. The slide went down towards Esso without hitting the building, but went down towards a parking lot for heavy transport. Residents of a home have evacuated themselves, and seven lorries have been asked to move. – There is, after all, a residential area just above where the landslide occurred. So we are in place together with the fire department and people from the municipality to assess and find out which substratum the houses are standing on. At least something is standing on the mountain of that settlement there. So it’s good, that, in any case, says the operations manager to news. Everyone in the street reported what had happened and the police say they have an ongoing dialogue with the residents. But they need to gain a little more knowledge before possibly evacuating people. The police reported the collapse right at 02:00.
