The E39 Byfjord tunnel north of Stavanger on the Sokn side is closed due to a frontal collision on the outside of the tunnel. One person is critically injured and one person is seriously injured. They were both taken to hospital in an ambulance. In connection with the incident, the Mastrafjord Tunnel was closed, but it has now been reopened. There is still a lot of queue at the place. The ferry connection Arsvågen- Mortavika will now go via Mekjarvik on Randaberg. It may take some time before the connection is started. There are ferries between Arsvågen and Mekjarvik with departures approximately every 45 minutes. Individual departures also go through Mortavika. The police ask that the heavy traffic between the Byfjord tunnel and Mortavika turn around and drive up to the Mortavika ferry quay. Around 19:00 there will be a ferry departure that will take the traffic from Mortavika down to Mekjarvik, the Swedish Road Administration informs. Other traffic must comply with the new route between Mekjavik and Arsvågen. Work is being done on manual traffic regulation, alternative detours and ferry notifications. Forensic technicians are on site and will carry out the necessary investigations. The tunnel will be closed for several hours. – There are supposed to be three people involved, and they are conscious, says operations manager in the Sør-West police district, Anders Oppedal.
