Kayaks, barbecues and garden furniture: Everything must emerge from oblivion on the eve of a rainy summer. – I am very tired, we are waiting for the heat, says Fithawit Hadish in Førde about all the rain that the western country has received this summer. Finally: The girls are happy that it will finally get a little warmer in the west. Photo: Oddgeir Sæle / news But at the weekend the summer heat will hit the west and 25 degrees will be on the scale. – There will probably be a good deal of sun for most people, says state meteorologist Magni Svanevik. Early in the day, both Saturday and Sunday will have some low clouds along the coast which will break up during the day and change to sunshine. Warmer in the eastern mountains: – Temperatures of up to 30 degrees are expected there, it won’t be quite as hot in Western Norway, says Svanevik. In the Oslofjord, the water is up to 20 degrees. The same temperature is in the sea at the city beach in Kristiansand. There, sun and air temperatures of up to 27 degrees are expected at the weekend. Both Sørlandet and Austlandet have dry and warm weather in store throughout the weekend. They are already well conditioned for that, unlike both westerners and northerners, if you look at the weather in recent weeks. From yesterday, the meteorologists sent out a yellow warning about the risk of forest fires for the East and parts of the South. – It has been a dry and nice summer there, in contrast to Western Norway, says Svanevik. Still damp in northern Norway Some places in northern Norway still have to be patient with the weather, because some precipitation is still expected at the start of the weekend. – A gale is expected on the coast and rainstorms both Saturday and Sunday before the weather eases on Sunday, says Svanevik. In Vest-Finnmark there has been a yellow warning for strong gusts of wind which are expected to decrease over the course of Friday evening. But the worst of the rainy weather will be over, promises the meteorologist and refers to the amount of rainfall that has been along the Helgeland coast. Ready for fine weather Bodil Bruland Viken and Marit Nikø paddle kayaks along the river Jølstra in Sunnfjord, but would not say that they are tired of the wet Westland weather that has been around. Nevertheless, they have to admit that they are happy about the temperatures that are in store: – One wakes up, you know, there will be more life and speed in us, says Bruland Viken from the kayak. Swimming, paddling or berry picking, the two ladies are in no danger of running out of activities, even in the rain. – I don’t get weather-sick, but when the sun shines I have to go out, says Nikø. NOT SICK OF THE WEATHER: Two hardy Westerners paddle along the river, but still: It will be good with some good weather, they admit. Photo: Oddgeir Sæle / news
