The number of electric scooters for hire in Oslo may increase from 8,000 to 16,000. Høyre, Venstre, Frp and Lars Petter Solås (Independent) secure a majority for this in the city council. The red-green parties voted against when the matter was considered in the transport and environment committee on Wednesday. The city council wanted to set the ceiling at 14,000, but after negotiations with the Frp, this has been increased further. The city council can also decide to increase the number to 18,000 without asking the city council. The most important reason why a majority will lift the current restriction is to get more electric scooters installed in the outer city. Today’s night closing is still fixed, but here too the city council was authorized to make changes. Many people were negative about more electric scooters when the matter was out for consultation, both individuals and organizations such as Blindeforbundet and Trygg Trafikk.
