– There is no doubt that temperatures are rising in Bergen now. We have already got our own golden beer, says mayor Marit Warncke (H) in Bergen municipality. After the matches this weekend, Brann and Bodø/Glimt are tied in the table, both with 55 points, but not equal on goal difference. Brann is therefore still number two, but even so, the people of Bergen have stars in their eyes, and greater hope that “the gold will come”. Local breweries produce all “the gold goes home” beer. – That is what is so wonderful about Bergen, that we are very good at taking the victory early. If it doesn’t work out, at least we’ve had the party, says the mayor. – Smells like gold Førebels says there are three matches for Brann in the series. Against Lillestrøm at home on Saturday, away against Molde on 23 November and at home against Viking on 1 December. The last home games were sold out in a few minutes. – There is a lot to be done in the run-in, there are three games left, but now we smell the gold, so I think Bergen is able to create a party around the last run-in, says Warncke. Photo: Privat The mayor says the municipality has had to start thinking about how a gold should be celebrated. – The idea is that we must have a folk festival in the city, but not necessarily that it is the municipality that does this alone. So we have to find out. We have started to think about it. – So there will be no increase in the property tax in Bergen, in order to have a gold party? – No. I can guarantee that it won’t be. Gold fever in the brewery Bergens Tidende was the first to write that gold beer comes from Hansa Borg breweries, and earlier both Bergensavisen and Bergens Tidende wrote that 7 mountains brews beer with real gold. Paal Davanger is the owner of Fotballpuben in Bergen and is looking forward to a golden festival. – We mustn’t “jinx” this here, but it’s clear, we’re Bergen kings, and we’re getting close. Pål Davanger hopes for gold for Brann. – I think Brann is in an incredibly fine floating zone. Everything works up there now. Both administration, supporters, players. It is a big family that is in full swing, and everyone works for everyone, says Davanger. Photo: Martin Værum Anda / news At the same time as the brewery in Bergen is boiling, the local brewery Bådin Bryggeri in Bodø has told VG that they have “as usual” filled their tanks with golden lager. According to VG, on the other hand, there will be no golden beer from Nordland Pils, because Ringnes believes they are not allowed to produce it. And now there will be Hansa gold beer on tap and on tap, and not in cans in shops, as was the case in 2018. Davanger admits that he is “a little scared” that beer production will now jinx the gold. – I think they should perhaps have waited for one more match. 2018: This is what Hansa’s golden beer looked like in 2018. Then Brann led the series halfway, but finished in third place. Photo: Roy Hilmar Svendsen / news Longing for gold In the cityscape of Bergen, there is also hope for gold. Fire supporter Rolf Myrvågnes feels a rising fever and a longing for gold. – Now there is suddenly a hope that no one had imagined, just a few weeks ago. It’s a new and nice feeling, says Myrvågnes. Rolf Myrvågnes has been a fire supporter for 30 years, and remembers well 2007 when the gold was brought home to Bergen for the last time. – They just have to drive on with Gullør. A silver place is also fine, actually. The beer will “hem”, and the gold will “hem”, he says. Photo: Martin Værum Anda / news RBK fans Geir Slørdahl and Roger Tømmevold think it’s nice that their team could contribute a little to the gold rush in Bergen, when Rosenborg beat Bodø/Glimt. They treat the people of Bergen to grab the gold from Bodø/Glimt. – This year we are rooting for the gold beer to be on tap in Bergen, says Slørdahl. – It’s okay to start tapping some beer and be prepared, says Tømmervold. RBK fans Geir Slørdahl and Roger Tømmevold hope for gold for Brann. And a little help to steal some points from Molde, who are above Rosenborg in the table. Photo: Martin Værum Anda / news However, fire supporter Hans Jørgen Grov does not dare to hope for too much. – I hope, but I’m also a little scared. I think Bodø/Glimt are probably too good. Hans Jørgen Grov (on the right) with the Austrian Martin Bergsjø Østby (on the left, wearing a Liverpool scarf). Grov believes that the fact that golden beer is being tapped all now has nothing to do with it: – Either Bodø/Glimt pull out, or they don’t pull out. Photo: Martin Værum Anda / news Hope in every drop That things will be exciting going forward is quite certain, because Viking is currently in third place in the table, with 50 points. Can they take back the “red shirts”? – If they win both games and hang on, it will be a bloody tough game, the last game at home, says Davanger. Pål Davanger says the Football Pub will serve golden beer: – The Football Pub is Brann, and it is clear that we have to be part of it, now that it is as it is today. Photo: Martin Værum Anda / news Who will actually win the series will become clear in December. It will be golden beer anyway. – If we now win over Lillestrøm, we can sell that golden beer just by taking second place. It’s almost like a series championship, reaching the Champions League qualification, says Davanger. The football pub in Bergen is now undergoing renovation, and thus they have to serve gold beer on tap in other premises. Photo: Martin Værum Anda / news Published 09.11.2024, at 16.17
