75-year-old beaten up in his own garage after being overtaken – news Vestfold and Telemark – Local news, TV and radio

The incident happened on the country road in Lunde in Telemark on a Monday morning in June this year. Took up the chase The MC driver was out for a ride on his motorbike, when he was overtaken by a car. According to the defendant, the car must have driven past him at a very short distance, and then swerved in directly in front of him. This meant that he had to slow down sharply to avoid a collision, which the experienced motorcyclist found very frightening. Thus it became black for the 71-year-old, who decided to take up the hunt for the car in front. After a short time, the journey ended at the address where the owner of the car lives. When the latter had parked and got out of the car, he was met by a furious motorcycle driver. Then the violence started. With his helmet on, the attacker first strangled the 75-year-old, slamming his head into the roof of the car. He then hit the driver with the flat of his hand. The sequence of events has been confirmed by images from a surveillance camera at the site. According to the verdict, the photos show that it took four seconds from the time the motorcycle stopped until the driver went to physical attack. Disagree about the course of events The two are quite at odds about what actually happened on the summer day in question. The man who was attacked in his own garage experienced the overtaking quite differently. He told the court that he had driven past the motorcycle because the person in question kept a very low speed, and thought he had good clearance along the way. Thus it was word for word. The motorcycle driver’s defender, Monica Tveit Tjentland, believed that her client had to be acquitted on the basis of the rules on provocation, or that he had to be considered to have acted in justified anger. The prosecutor, Caroline Gunnesdal, believed that the incident could not justify the subsequent violence in the garage anyway. The court understood that the incident could have a provocative effect on the motorbike driver, but not enough to justify any of the actions in the garage. – The defendant is a well-grown man, who should have made use of other alternatives, says the judgment. Sentenced to prison The man was sentenced to prison for 24 days. He must also pay NOK 580 in compensation, and NOK 5,000 in restitution to the offended 75-year-old. In addition, he must cover court costs of NOK 3,000. The man’s defender, Monica Tveit Tjentland, says that they will now go through the verdict thoroughly. – My client is aware of the outcome, but we do not wish to comment further on the case until we have gone through the judgment together. We may have to come back to an appeal, she says to news.
