71 people infected – news Vestland

71 people in Norway have been infected in the national outbreak of salmonella. This is reported by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. Before the weekend, 49 people were infected. They have been ill since mid-October, and 36 of the infected have been admitted to hospital. 51 of those infected are women. The outbreak is largest in Vestland county, with 22 infected. Otherwise, there are cases in Akershus (9), Rogaland (8), Trøndelag (7), Østfold (5), Møre og Romsdal (4), Oslo (3), Telemark (3), Innlandet (2), Troms (2 ), Agder (2), Vestfold (1), Nordland (1), Buskerud (1) and Finnmark (1). Organic alfalfa sprouts are suspected to be the source of the outbreak. Consumers are advised to discard these products.
