The fire and rescue service was notified of the incident at 16:48, and almost two hours later she was rescued. – The girl was very scared, of course, but her physical condition is good, says incident leader Håvard Bakken from the Oslo Fire and Rescue Service to news. The girl is now at Ullevål hospital and is being cared for by health personnel there. The fire and rescue service got her free by smearing the sculpture in oil and lifting the girl up to a point where the crack in the art installation was larger. Bakken tells news that this is not the first time children have become stuck in the installation. He says he will take this up with the Norwegian Environment Agency. – It is nice that we have art in the city, but we cannot have art that is dangerous for children. The girl stuck to the Peace Monument, which was erected in connection with the 50th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The monument is seven meters high and carved in granite.
