A spokesman for Qatar’s foreign ministry told Reuters that three French, two German and six Argentine nationals were among the Israeli hostages released by Hamas. It is already known that several of the Israeli hostages held by Hamas have dual citizenship. It is currently unknown whether foreign hostages without Israeli citizenship have also been released by Hamas on Monday. The hostages were kidnapped by Hamas during their terrorist attack on Israel on 7 October. The releases take place in connection with the ongoing ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which was extended by two days on Monday. In return for the release of Israeli hostages, Israel must release 33 Palestinians who have been imprisoned in Israel, according to the ceasefire agreement. According to the spokesperson for Qatar, this should be 30 children and three women, writes the BBC. From before, 59 hostages have been released since Friday. 40 of these are Israelis or Israelis with dual citizenship. The rest are foreigners.
