The block in the Fardous neighborhood had five floors and was allegedly illegally built. Seven women, three children and an elderly man lost their lives in the collapse, reports NTB-AP. Seven nearby buildings were evacuated for fear that they too would collapse. The state news agency Sana quotes Muid Madlaji, who heads the Aleppo city council, as saying that the block was built illegally and had a weak foundation. He added that the area has suffered major damage during the war.
