Close to 800,000 people took the train in several large cities on Monday. The news agency AFP writes that at least 108 police officers have been injured and that 291 people have been arrested after several clashes between demonstrators and the police. Several banks and shops had their windows smashed, and scooters and bus shelters were set on fire. Cars were also set on fire in Toulouse and Lyon. The police have used both tear gas and water cannons against the crowds.
